Maruti Suzuki Ciaz – The New Entrant In The Car Market

After a long gap of nearly seven years, Maruti Suzuki has brought out its new sedan – the Ciaz in the A3 segment. The company is hoping to capture a sizeable share in the car market with this all-new sedan. And truly enough, the Ciaz received orders for more than 10000 units in the month of launch itself. It was first showcased at the Auto Expo and then officially launched in October 2014 and is now slowly on to Indian roads.

Maruti Ciaz has a good road presence with its huge front radiator chrome grille marked by swept back projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights. Bold lines and consistent panel gaps run across the body. The Maruti Ciaz body colour electrical ORVMs get turn indicators on them. The rear also looks unique with a slightly raised boot, lip spoiler, chrome badge and wrap around LED tail lights. Ciaz looks absolutely stunning in Pearl Snow White, Clear Beige, Midnight Black, Sangria Red, Silky Silver, Dignity Brown and Glistening Grey colours.

The all beige interiors have a simple and uncluttered layout. Five adults can sit comfortably in the ergonomically designed spacious interiors. The cabin looks bright and airy, thanks to the light coloured upholstery and plastics and faux wood aluminium inserts. The waterfall layout of the wide dash features a hi-tech instrument cluster along with an all-new multimedia system. It includes touchscreen with access to music, telephone, voice command and navigation.

Maruti Ciaz is being presented in both petrol and diesel fuel trims and the choice of powertrains is very much Maruti-like.  The petrol variants are powered by K14 VVT, 1373 cc, 1.4-litre K-Series engine which produces maximum power of 91 bhp with a peak torque of 130 Nm. This motor is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel variants come loaded with 1.3-litre MJD engine which produces a maximum power output of 89 bhp and peak torque of 200 Nm. There is no automatic transmission on offer in the diesel model. The petrol and diesel variants promise an impressive mileage of 20.73 kmpl and 26.2 kmpl respectively.

Other noteworthy features are the engine push start/stop system with intelligent key, steering wheel mounted audio controls, automatic climate control system with dust and pollen filter, rear AC vents, front and rear accessory sockets, height adjustable driver seat and foot-well lamps. Safety features include ABS, EBD, dual front airbags, seat belt with pre tensioners and force limiters, engine immobilizer and anti-theft security system.

Currently there is a waiting period of two to three weeks and this is due to the large demand for this car. Maruti will probably launch this sedan worldwide in course of time.
