London Calling

London Calling

Posted on June 12, 2014September 24, 2024 by Earl K. Miller

As a global city and business centre, London goes from strength to strength. And as its population has increased over the past 25 years, so have its fortunes improved.

Renowned for its financial markets, London also has major strengths in the fields of design, science and technology.

The capital is home to around 4,500 world-class researchers and clinical and medical trial centres, and it is partly the quality of these industries that has attracted world-class professionals to the UK’s capital in their droves.

The population of London rose by a staggering 7% between 2000 and 2009 alone, and for many London is clearly the destination of choice when it comes to finding a good job that can sit happily alongside a good quality of life.

London — A Great Place to Work

A fast-growing and formidable centre for global finance, London is a well-established player on the world business stage.

And in the same way that Dick Whittington made his way to London in search of streets paved with gold, so the enduring popularity of London sees new businesses moving in and setting up on a daily basis.

For those interested in renting City of London office space there are a wealth of companies offering a range of serviced office packages on either a long- or short-term basis.

With office space available by the square foot, both small- and large-scale businesses are moving in and settling down side by side, making for a dynamic melting pot of business communities across the City of London.

This vibrant atmosphere coupled with a sense of economic optimism is currently making London the global destination of choice for many businesses, and the trend looks set to continue.

A Great Place to Live

A wealth of entertainment options, from ballet and opera at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden to concert venues and the National Film Theatre on the South Bank, make London a fun and vibrant city in which to live.

With plenty to see and do, it’s no wonder that it now boasts the most millionaires of any city in the world. Options for eating out are continually increasing in both number and quality, with the capital offering a range of global foods that reflect its intensely diverse multicultural population.

London’s diverse mix of ultra-modern and historical period properties is also a magnet for the well-off. There are also theatres and concert venues throughout the capital — from big productions in the West End to the O2 in Greenwich, which plays host to a range of big touring bands.

Families are also well catered for, with world-class museums such as the British Museum and galleries such as Tate Modern offering free family events and activities for kids across the capital.

There are plenty of parks and green open spaces for younger children, and when they get older a range of state and private schools. As regards further education, the prospects also look good as there are 42 higher education institutes in the city.
